Generac Power Systems Manufacturing Facility – Beaver Dam, WI

2025

The Generac Power Systems Manufacturing Facility was a design-build project with an aggressive schedule consisting of a 345,000 SF plant on a 30-acre site. Site preparation involved crop harvesting, vegetation clearing, foundation excavation, grading and underground utility installation. It required the excavation and placement of 215,000 CY of dirt, excavation of 4,100 LF of footings, 170 column pads, placement of 106,000 tons of aggregate, 9,300 LF of underground utilities and restoration of 12.5 acres.  Because of the high-profile status, tight schedule and multiple contractors working simultaneously on the jobsite, clear communication and close coordination was essential to the successful completion of the project. Using GPS equipped excavators and dozers, we had the building site pad ready for building construction within 40 days.  Winter weather, bad soils and changes to the plans during construction presented challenges to which we found innovative solutions. These included using concrete and lime for stabilization and adapting our schedule as needed to accommodate weather and jobsite constraints. We were able to reuse all onsite materials for the project and utilize the rock found onsite to manufacture Rip Rap. Through collaboration, communication, adaptability and safety, we were able to complete the project on time while exceeding expectations.
