2025
The Rock River Ridge Development project consisted of transforming an abandoned, overgrown 40-acre site into a residential community for 78 single-family homes, 18 duplexes and 92 market rate apartments. Work began with the clearing and grubbing of 11 acres of trees and brush, along with the removal of existing street infrastructure and underground utilities and foundations. The project scope included 197,000 CY of excavation and fill, 12,900 LF of utility installation, 5,065 LF of concrete curb and gutter, 8,900 SY of asphalt road, and 28,353 SF of concrete pathway. The project had a fast-tracked timeline, with work commencing September 12, 2024, and the first phase of the road was paved by November 25, 2024. This large scope of work and tight schedule required the utilization of three crews, and a large fleet of GPS dozers and backhoes to meet the owners’ goals of having 30 buildable lots ready for the winter. The remaining site grading operations were completed in August of 2025. Many challenges were encountered such as an early frost, numerous rainfall events and the discovery of many unknown existing utilities and building remnants. In total 9,461 man hours were worked, while Wondra self-performed 85% of the contracted work.
